CHAPTER 1 / 4
A trip to Edinburgh
The adventure begins
Hi, I'm Blaze.
I'm a dragon tamer. You don't believe me? Well, then look at my dragon tamer's ID. It tells you all about me.
All dragon tamers are teenagers. Dragons are OK with children and teenagers, but they hate adults. People say I'm a good dragon tamer – but dragon tamers only need to be patient. And nice to the dragons. And we need to know some tricks. OK, and maybe we need to be brave, too. Sometimes dragons can be scary!
2. Meeting the dragons
Anyway, here's something cool: It's Monday morning and all my friends are at school – but I'm in a helicopter with Stevie. She's my pilot. I'm on my way to tame some dragons in Edinburgh. It's in Scotland. Dragons normally live in the mountains or in forests, but sometimes they come into cities.
CHAPTER 2 / 4
Meeting the dragons
A most unusual family
Then dragon tamers need to protect the people, tame the dragons and take them to a safe place.
Oh, we're here! Hello Edinburgh! Good, a policeman is here to meet me. He can tell me all about the situation.
So, now I know where the dragons are. The policeman says they're at Edinburgh Castle. It's a family of dragons: a mum dragon, a dad dragon and a young dragon.
Right, it's dragon taming time – let's go!
We're here at the castle! Now, where are the dragons? Oh, over there. Shhhh. I see them. Two purple dragons. I think they are the parents. And there's the young one. It's a girl. She's blue and, oh, isn't she sweet? And she's so small! Oh wow, there's a light purple dragon egg, too. Purple parents, blue child, light purple egg?
Oooh, these must be Feli-Rhymus dragons. They are from New Zealand. I know they're very difficult to tame.
CHAPTER 3 / 4
The poem
A little courage. A little rhyme.
Right. It's time to say hello. OK, that's it, slowly, slowly. And now … I hope they don't attack me. I bow for a loooong time. Then I look up and say: "Hello. My name is Blaze. What about you?" The parents say nothing. But the little one points at herself and says: "Tazzy."
Then she points to her mum and says: "Volta," and to her dad and says: "Ignus."
Suddenly, Volta flies up into the sky. She is really angry. She starts chasing me out of the castle. I need to think of something quickly! Think, Blaze, think!
Ooh, I know – I can tell her a poem! Feli-Rhymus dragons love poems.
You're a very big dragon – it's true!
And everyone's so scared of you.
You breathe fire so hot, which hurts quite a lot,
When it burns a big hole in my shoe.
Ouch! That was my shoe. But I think Volta is listening to me.
You're a large, scary dragon – it's true!
And everyone's so scared of you.
Your claws are so long, and your jaws are so strong,
You could eat me in one bite – or two!
CHAPTER 4 / 4
A dragon dinner
A delicious new plan
Hey, look! Volta is flying back to the castle. Yes! That's good. Really good! Time for a new plan.
I can text my best friend, Kora, from New Zealand for some tips. She's a dragon tamer, too. She knows a lot about dragons. I can send her a photo, too.
I've got a new plan. Kora gave me some fantastic ideas! The plan is to give the dragons presents. Feli-Rhymus dragons love presents, especially their favourite food!
My next trick is … a delicious dragon dinner!
Dragons love hot and spicy food, like chillies. I'm serving the dragons a hot and spicy pizza with extra red and green chillies. Yum, that looks good!
I give the pizza to the dragons. Ignus and Volta just look at it. Oh no … But wait! Look at Tazzy. She's trying it. She's eating lots of it. WOOHOO, she likes it!
Wait, what's happening? Oh dear, the poor little dragon. Look at her face! Oh Tazzy – she looks like a tomato!
5. Dusty
Wow, Volta and Ignus are eating some pizza, too! I'm hungry, too. Pizza for me! For a moment we are all quiet. We eat our delicious dragon dinner.
And then … Oh no, the chillies! They are so spicy! My face goes red and feels HOT, HOT, HOT.
